Clean 'Em Up, Indiana

Jun 18, 2012Word on the Street

Last week, True the Vote and Judicial Watch filed suit against the state of Indiana. Why? Bloated voter rolls. True the Vote's volunteer researchers are spending staggering amounts of time reviewing the accuracy of voter registries and they're finding lots of counties that have more voters than residents would by eligible to vote. We've asked states to take action, to make sure their rolls are accurate; some have responded, some haven't, leaving us no choice but to do something more about it. To the best of our knowledge, this is the first time a private right of action has been brought against a state for failure to maintain its voter registry. We're betting it won't be the last. To read more about what's happening in Indiana check out True the Vote and sign up to volunteer. You'll want to be in the loop for breaking news coming in the days ahead (hint: it will happen in Florida).
